Review of Bairavaa

Bairavaa (2017)
6/10
Some good scenes, but as a movie it's not enough
2 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Bairavaa is an action entertainer that talks about a daring debt collector who ends up fighting a hard-core educational field criminal. It is expected to be an unapologetic mass movie that can only be enjoyed and not analyzed.

Characters:

Vijay: Yet another energetic performances. He is the man of the masses

Keerthy Suresh: As Vijay's love interest. A decent performance by the cute girl, where she played a village girl from Tirunelveli.

Jagapathi Babu and Daniel Balaji: Good performance from both

Sathish: Couldn't not manage to evoke laughter like his previous ventures.

Music: Santhosh Narayanan is known for some experimented music, but in Bairavaa the songs reminds you of some other music directors. Nillayo reminds you of a typical D.Imman song, although the song is a masterpiece. The Varlaam Vaa bgm gives you goosebumps in the fight scenes, especially the interval block, but the bgm gets repetitive. Papa papa was unnecessary in the movie, slows down the pace of the movie.

Other technicians:

  • Cinematography: Sukumar has shown Vijay in dynamic angles and it has elevated his mass aspects adequately.

  • Editing: Nice

  • Stunts: Pakka mass!! Hats off to Anl Arasu

Overall, Bairavaa is an enjoyable action entertainer, but it becomes boring at some places. First half was pakka, except from the lengthy flashback. Second half revolved around a "cat and mouse" game between Vijay and Jagapathi Babu. There were some good scenes. The movie had a good story and message, but the poor screenplay let down the movie a bit

Verdict: Above average
