I enjoy the series and know it is definitely fiction because these characters would not be getting away with what they are in real life. I had a problem with the statement made by the son, Lt Sloan, who is making the remark to someone that he is stuck on a "routine rape stakeout." There is nothing about a rape that is routine nor should it have been taken so lightly in the characters statement. Granted, this episode was in 1998, but domestic violence and rape had escalated by then to alarming statistics . The characters don't seem to have real jobs that necessitates them being at work for any length of time so hope people take note in this that in real hospitals , real people take care of their patients and real law enforcement personnel also are doing theirs also . I watch or rather listen to these episodes while doing thing around the house and take them with a grain of salt .
