2/10
The title is a lie and the movie is a mess

Warning: Spoilers
"Everybody Loves Hypnotoad" is a 22-minute animated short film from 2007, so this one has its 10th anniversary this year. It is a little add-on fake episode from the Futurama universe that spoofs the title "Everybody Loves Raymond". Basically all you do here is watch an animated toad with hypnotic eyes. Luckily, there is an interruption here and there like an early block of commercials that were admittedly mildly funny, but probably also only worked because they offered a much needed distraction from the toad. The music we hear later on while seeing the house is okay to listen to as well I believe. The audience sounds when we see or hear something change with the toad is one of the highlights too. But as well as all these little snippets may work, it is not enough to justify any of the toad stuff at the center of it all. The joke gets really repetitive after a couple minutes and from that moment on it is nothing but boring and perhaps a cure to insomnia. I don't mind Futurama (while not being the very biggest fan I guess), but this does not mean that you have to like this one we have here. I genuinely wonder how many of the almost 300 people who gave this a perfect 10/10 here on IMDb have really watched it from start to finish because I cannot imagine anybody who saw the entire 22 minutes would give it anything above 3-4 stars and that's already very much on the generous side. I will do without the equally repetitive and stupid punchline at the end of my review and not act as if I got hypnotized by the toad and now suddenly like it. Instead I will say that you really want to stay far far away from this film. Highly not recommended.
