Review of Yalghaar

Yalghaar (2017)
7/10
Good story line with a good mix of action, drama and rom-com

Im a big supporter of Pakistani cinema and always put an effort to watch Lollywood films that release in North America. I would have to say that I liked this film better than Waar because it had a good mix of romantic comedy, drama, action and emotions. I thought it would just be all about war, fighting and violence but it had much more to the story, which really pleased me.

Generally, I enjoyed the film, but it could have been better. I thought it was decently presented and had an appeal for all ages. However, I do agree with other viewers that the scenes were a bit choppy at parts and could have transitioned better (though I didn't think it was as bad as Bin Roye). Also, I didn't notice the Bank Alfala marketing until a bit later when they kept on showing their VISA cards, but I didn't mind that too much either. For a while I was a tad bit lost in the film because the sense of direction was a bit weak, but it slowly got back on track.

I particularly liked the ending and the way they made a tribute to all of those who lost their lives in the Peshawar tragedy. May they all rest in peace.
