Set and filmed in the Lafayette Louisiana areas, with some New Orleans thrown in.

Warning: Spoilers
I came across this movie on Netflix streaming. I must admit I mainly watched it for one, selfish reason ... back in the 1960s I was a student in Lafayette for four years. In addition I later lived in and around the New Orleans area. That is my selfish reason, the nostalgia effect, seeing those areas again.

However the movie itself is pretty good. It is primarily about one character, Amy, who grew up in Lafayette but ended up in a broadcasting career in New York. As an adult she gets a call to go back to Lafayette, an old friend and teacher was on her deathbed and asked for Amy.

The movie is about Amy as a teenager, becoming a member of a quality school debate team that would compete for the national championship. The influences that helped determine where she would go in life.

Michelle Clunie is the Adult Amy and Laura Marano, who was probably 19 or 20 during filming, is the Young Amy. Each of them is appropriate for the roles.

The cast features a number of South Louisiana actors, and the indigenous Cajun music is featured often throughout the movie. It brought back good memories. My dad built violins and was a Cajun Fiddler.
