I did not hear anything about this little gem, but I am glad I did see it. For me, once again, it was the perfect example to make a action/gangster/drama without much fuss around, just like "John Wick" or "Dredd" (with Karl Urban). The only thing I did not like so much was the tone in the beginning, it goes for some "realism" (getting in the jail-system, arriving at jail, bully guards) and it's really slow doing that. because that doesn't really fit with the second half which is more like "Locked Up" or some exploitation prison movie, I liked it, but I wished the whole movie was more like this.
two more things.. Vince Vaughn is brilliant, did not think he would be capable. and the violence is over the top, gruesome and gritty, the fist fights are awesome, without much cuts (editing-cuts).
