Asura's Wrath is critically acclaimed, it's one of those titles that despite never getting a sequel became a cult classic. I personally however don't see the appeal, in the slightest.
It certainly has a unique sense of style, the way it's constructed is masterful and because of this it's like watching an anime. Alas this type of over the top storytelling doesn't do anything for me.
Then there is the action, button bashing at its finest. Our multi-armed protagonist is not only overpowered but deeply annoying in the cutscenes.
So with an unlikeable lead, mindless gameplay and a story I couldn't get behind it really didn't stand much of a chance.
I don't think Asura's Wrath is a poor game, I simply think it's more of a cinematic experience and a second rate one at that.
The Good:
Great sense of style
Certainly original
The Bad:
Button basher
Non-sensical plot
Things I Learnt From This Game:
Cult doesn't mean good
