The one-hour comeback ROSEANNE tv show was such a disappointment.
As many other reviewers have said, the new ROSEANNE was just plain cringe-worthy!
How anybody can give this show a "10" is preposterous.
The only thing that I can think of, is that the "10" ratings must have come from Trump-voters or people who work on the ROSEANNE show themselves!
Anyhow, I gave the show a 2-out-of-10 (although I almost gave it a "1") because the acting seemed so forced! It looked as though most of the actors were reading a teleprompter!...In my opinion,the best acting came from the daughter called HARRIS.
John Goodman's character was "OFF"....If you've ever watched the original show, you would know that "DAN" would be saying his lines in a different manner and also, the content of Dan's lines did not match the original character.
The Roseanne character was "OFF" also.... The Roseanne character, from the original series, was an interesting person, and when the "previous" Roseanne made a comment, it made a person think about what she was saying, and then the character would add to the comment to provide context. However, this new ROSEANNE character seems to be reading lines that are "trendy" and without any real meaning behind the comments. It seems as though a person handed Roseanne a piece of paper & told her to read the lines & made her look at the camera (...without showing true feelings, or adding any substance to those lines!).
The Connor family (of the past show) was a family that most hard-working people could relate to, in one way or another. But this Connor family, is lacking so much relate-ability,regardless of what economic level a person is at!
The Trump jokes did not work, for starters. Also, the fact that Dan & Roseanne did a 180, and all of a sudden, we (the viewers) are supposed to believe that they have turned into Conservative Trumpsters, simply does not work! Not only that , but we (the viewers) are not given any evidence as to why on earth Dan & Roseanne have done this 180, and have become so radically Conservative. It does not fit the character backgrounds that we all knew about the couple!
I am glad though, that all the original characters, from the first show have come back, otherwise this would have been a "1" rating, rather than a "2" rating, (on my part). IMHO this show will not last: The lines are not very funny. The main actors do not appear as though they are enjoying their acting job. The canned laughter is ridiculous and does not work. The show's plot is "forced" & tries to incorporate every single "trendy" idea that is out there right now...And we all know what happens with "trends" these days: Here today, gone tomorrow!
