Comicstaan has been the most hyped Amazon prime show so far. So much so that they seemed at battle with Sacred Games for promotion space.
Usually I enjoy pre release promotion period. One gets snippets of the what to expect, teasers are fun to watch. Amazon with Comicstaan went all out, to a point that it was irritating & one could sense the irritation among the hosts cum judges as well.
Keeping that aside, this is a review of the first 2 episodes, because I am cheap like that.
My problem with the show was primarily the judges itself, I never really took them seriously to able to judge the 10 contestants. Some of the contestants had great potential, others I kept wondering why he/she is on the show in the first place. Everyone gave high scores for no good reason, the critique was baseless & very general. Apart from Kanan & Tanmay, I didn't see much value added to the set they contestants performed.
I am not sure the thematic format helped the contestants either, most of the contestants that got selected had a great audition but the second studio episode, almost all dipped in performance because they were made to find the content and they seemed so out of place. The provide a platform as well as groom them as comic is definitely not well handled.
All in all very disappointed with the show, with the pool of amazing people involved, I definitely expected a better output.
P.S : Abish should stop hosting shows, he is terrible at it.
