I think most of us can agree that Park's Season 1 is one of, if not the weakest season of the series. However, I do think there are a couple really underrated episodes in this short season, and "Boy's Club" is definitely one of those episodes. I think with this episode, we begin to see some characters blossom. In particular, Leslie, April, and Andy.

The A-plot in this episode shows April and Leslie getting in trouble for drinking on government property with the male employees who are part of a "boy's club." In the beginning of the episode, we begin to see the feminist in Leslie emerge as she feels it is not right to have only a "boy's Club" that is exclusive to the women of the department. The aftermath of her realizing that she drank/ate from the wine and cheese basket that she was not allowed to accept makes for great comedy. Basically Leslie treats this like she just committed murder as President of the United States. Leslie's loyalty to her job and the government is one of the defining traits of her character. This episode smartly is able to use it in comedic ways which really makes the episode work. Also we begin to the see the respect that Ron and Leslie have for each other, despite their different political views.

The B-plot is also pretty solid as well. Andy decides he wants to return the favor to his girlfriend for all the work she has done by taking care of him, so he cleans the entire house and even himself (in a kiddy pool). A standout moment sees Andy chase after an angry neighbor in the nude with only his casts and crutches. This is one of the funniest moments of the season, and probably when the creators of the show began to realize what comedic talent Chris Pratt really has (he was only supposed to be a guest star). By the way, isn't it funny seeing Chris Pratt in this kind of role, now knowing he is one of the world's biggest movie stars? It's little things like that, that make re-watches of the show so enjoyable.
