THE LONG NIGHT is a little-known Italian comedy/drama, starring Susanna Javicoli (of SUSPIRIA fame) and directed by Tonino Cervi, perhaps best known for QUEENS OF EVIL. It's an oddball production that takes a journey through some of the more bizarre aspects of modern society. The story follows a pair of fun-loving girls as they discover a priceless diamond ring and attempt to pawn it with the aid of their taxi driver friend. Their journey leads them to encounter dead bodies, transvestites, and finally a mysterious couple with a dark side. Some mild eroticism follows, but the humour doesn't really translate too well and the whole thing feels rather slow and insignificant.
