Narcos wastes no time in pushing its story forward. This tense episode follows Gallardo in his attempts to get regional kingpins' consent to build a drug distribution network. This is incredibly difficult as at that time the system was feudal, with no single leader. Even though Gallardo is an evil man, you have to admire his ambition and judgement as he makes these deals. And when it all falls apart because of one man at the table, you see just how monumental his task was.
There are a couple of predictable twists in this episode, when Kiki opens the trailer and when Gallardo is saved from death. But the latter scene is so well shot that it's tense enough anyway, plus it makes perfect sense. And it's chilling seeing Gallardo wait to see his former boss turn around before shooting him. You can see he enjoys the power he has over a man's life.
