I don't believe that this was an interesting movie in any sense. The music throughout was nice. The constant nudity, sheer inane characters that kept popping up, and the overall story seem very dreary.
It is possible that this was supposedly existential, in that once the main event happens, it is largely ignored.
However, in order for that to be plausible, it would require less emotion from the main character.
The simplicity of the film is in its ability to not be serious. Random trips to places, money just showing up out of nowhere, no repercussions.
If you find this level of escapism (of the main characters from their job) interesting, there are hundreds/thousands of Chinese films with the exact same plot, money coming in, showing the partying/spending of the money, learning some lesson at the end. Only difference is the nudity..
