Rather boring

Warning: Spoilers
THE LAST PATROL is a rather boring action B-movie set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by natural disasters. There's a volcano and earthquakes brought to the viewer thanks to stock footage from previous, better movies. Dolph Lundgren is the nominal hero of this one, leading a rag-tag bunch of survivors against some escaped convicts and nasty prisoner types, but the script is all over the place and the villains have no menace at all. There's an emphasis on melodrama and over-emoting while Lundgren looks frankly bored by the whole thing, and who can blame him? He's ridiculously dubbed in a lengthy voice-over that tops and tails the movie and the dusty Israeli locations add little to the production. A misfire from director Sheldon Lettich, whose Van Damme double-bill of A.W.O.L. and DOUBLE IMPACT remain old-time favourites of mine.
