Another cool, intriguing project from Atom Egoyan
31 January 2019
Atom Egoyan was an indie / art film star in the 1980s and 90s, and it was good to check out one of his more recent offerings. Here he applies his same cool, mysterious style to an intriguing family drama. A young man begins a school project about his mother, who was supposedly the victim of a Palestinian terrorist who seduced her and slipped a bomb into her luggage (that part is based on a true story). But as the film goes on, another version of events begins to come into view. Starring longtime Egoyan collaborator Arsinee Khanjian (who might be his wife), Scott Speedman, and others. I agree with some of the other folks here that the sequences of precocious kids discussing society et cetera could have been cut back some.
