A murder trial comes back to court because the laboratory responsible for the forensic analysis was dishonored, the case thrown out because of the lab evidence was in question. The case returns to court with the retired officer proving the guilty should remain incarcerated, specifically for the over-dosing of an elderly patient with morphine.

The retired officer was Provenza's former partner, George Andrews, who is coming into to seal the case back up like he did with his expert policework years ago. The mention of Lieutenant Provenza does hint at possible or probable trouble, things are not likely to go as planned, and that will be the truth.

Despite his former partner having a sex change, now a woman, things turn toward the positive getting her accomplice son arrested and the woman remain in prison for murder; he collaborated and she is still guilty. Brenda gets the two playing against one another as viewed through the interview and media rooms. Witnesses come forward, bodies are exhumed, Ricardo Ramos annoys everyone by his contemptuous manner, but suggesting an ad be placed in his paper looking for people to come forward recognizing photos of the convicted woman throughout her illegal career. It worked there are a few around coming to HQ.

The story is not as hokey as one would suspect even with Provenza's involvement; kind of a two-for-the-price of-one when the son is arrested, too. Watch the show for a smooth story despite the fact they don't want George showing up as Georgette, feeling it would discredit their case like the lab did.
