Awful!

Warning: Spoilers
The sad thing is that there was a lot of potential in this movie and while the reinterpretation's interesting, how it's executed is clumsy. The story's about a painter named Thomas(Ethan Peck) who has a reoccurring dream about discovering Briar Rose aka Sleeping Beauty(India Eisley) and whenever he tries to kiss her he wakes up afterwards. One day he gets a call from a law firm telling him that he inherited a mansion from his uncle. Only interested in selling the haunted property he checks it out where he runs into a realtor named Linda(Natalie Hall) who was a hidden motive of her own for visiting this house.

Slowly and slowly they begin to unravel the grisly truth behind this mansion. The more they find out the more they realize it all comes back the girl in his dreams. They also find out that those who come in never return. It's also revealed that the mansion was placed under a family curse during the Crusades and Briar Rose was put into an eternal sleep afterwards. There's not much else to say about this movie other than what follows afterwards is simply boring exposition, clunky editing, stiff acting and dialogue. The twist at the end is interesting but aside from that it's a huge let down. It turns out the title character was evil this whole time. The biggest disappointment is that the title character's just a plot device. This could've been a great opportunity to expand her origin and character but instead she's just a plot device and a blank slate. I guess it follows the original story in that Sleeping Beauty also didn't have much of a character.

I almost gave it 1 star but decided to give it 2 due to the fact that there some good ideas and concepts but they're not executed well. Everything about this movie's clumsy. Bottom line skip this movie because you'll be disappointed. It's nothing more than a wasted opportunity. The only thing you'll want to do after watching this is fall into a deep sleep and not wake up afterwards.
