Complex and fascinating, if flawed, 'Dekalog' is a 10-part film series made for Television illuminating the various subtle aspects of the Ten Commandments.
The great American filmmaker Stanley Kubrick offered this treacle about 'Dekalog' saying: 'These films have the very real ability to dramatize their ideas rather than just talking about them....They do this with such dazzling skill, you never see the ideas coming and don't realize until much later how profoundly they have reached your heart.'
What it conveys is not always the best it could be. Such is the lot of all art. The best episodes are 2, 3, and 9, with 1, 4, 6 and 10 having some good moments. Episodes 5, 7, and 8 are easily the weakest.
