Wander Over Yonder (2013–2016)
10/10
Animation Domination
9 June 2019
I'm a 40 year old guy who grew up watching all the classics: looney tunes, Hanna Barabara, Disney's after school shows, etc. I never stopped watching animated tv shows/movies. I like CGI and traditional animation. I liked Dexters' Laboratory, loved Powerpuff Girls, and Fosters Home. But when i saw Wander Over Yonder, it blew my mind. The color palette was gorgeous, the art/animation and motions of characters were imaginative and hilarious, the dialogue was spot-on, and some of the gimmicks, "hates great, best villain" only a child born before the 90's would get it, Miller Lites' slogan, "tastes great, less filling". It's little gens like that, that made this show perfect.

That it was only on for 2 seasons is in my mind an absolute tragedy and a crime. The potential for character development was wide open, and their arcs would've been spectacular. This was THE BEST CARTOON I've ever seen in my life, with no hesitation or second thoughts. Craig McCracken and Genndy Tartakovsky are untouchable in their craft. I still watch Samurai Jack, Dexters' Lab, PPG, and Fosters regularly. If you haven't watched this cartoon, you're missing out, but be prepared that it stops after season 2. I guess we can thank Lord Disney for that bone-headed move.
