The Convent (2000)
4/10
Cheap and cheerful

Warning: Spoilers
THE CONVENT is a cheap B-movie splatter flick from 2000 which deliberately acts as a throwback to the likes of NIGHT OF THE DEMONS. A convent is the setting for some sinisterly ghoulish goings-on, and the usual bunch of unlikeable teenagers arrive to find themselves at the mercy of some otherworldly beings. Cast-wise, the only interest comes from Adrienne Barbeau, showing up late on in the proceedings to deliver some much needed mettle; the rest are entirely forgettable. The story is limited and only enlivened by some cheap and cheerful prosthetic effects which are a cheese-lover's dream.
