A Cat in Paris was a nice watch. Yes, I think that is a fitting judgement for it, because even though it plays its own instruments really well like the interesting animation style with a nice use of shadows and other artistic touches, it just needed a little more to make the big splash.
I liked how the writers and animators played out the story about the mother's history with the villain which is not very cheery, but that's awesome in my opinion to not only tell the audience but also showing it.
And that's what mostly saved this movie from being a run-of-the-mill crime story, the animation style and how it was used to pinpoint certain relations between the otherwise rather uninteresting characters. But what they achieved with those means in the finished product which is only an hour long was pretty impressive and makes for an enjoyable watch.
