Family Guy: Road to the North Pole (2010)
Season 9, Episode 7

My Personal Favorite From the Show

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the few Family Guy episodes that take you on a hell of a ride, and I wish the show had more of these kinds of episodes. I really enjoy all of its themes. All the songs are spot on, and really add onto the mood. Too bad it didn't win the Emmy it was nominated for.

A lot of people find the dark themes when they get into the second half with the North Pole nauseating and disturbing, but I genuinely fell in love with that part. It's portrayal of a heavy consumerism factory where everyone are mutants and in low morale, on top of a gloomy atmosphere, really packs a punch with me. Usually when Family Guy does shock or disturbing imagery, it's meant as a joke, which doesn't always sit well with me. But here, it's set as the mood, and it really is poignant.

Another small complaint is how the episode had scenes just randomly kind of happen out of the blue to progress the plot. Like Stewie blowing up the truck, or Brian randomly wanting a sandwich. But other than that, It's still a must watch in my opinion.
