Academy Award winner William Hurt played a man, Brett Hanson, who has just been released from prison after 6 years. He hitches a ride with two young adults played by Kristen Stewart and British Eddie Redmayne. They're traveling in Louisiana in post Katrina to New Orleans. Both Martine (Kristin Stewart) and Gordy (Eddie Redmayne OBE) want to leave their small town life behind. The movie also starred Maria Bello as May, Brett's wife. Brett's story unfolded in flashbacks although it doesn't always seem that way. The film is beautifully shot and is a character piece about young love and old love. I enjoyed the story but I wanted to know more about the ending. It felt it was abrupt. Like what happened to the four of them? I guess it's for the viewers to figure out on their own.
