The skinwalkers are one of the more successful monsters in terms of effects from the show. I know they are just dogs but they end up feeling more realistic than say werewolves. Lucky's story is both really creepy, unnerving and also a little sad, touching. He is one of the better one off characters from the show's run.
Soulless Sammy feels forced in this episode Like he went from being Sam but a little off to full-blown utilitarian/psychopath in one episode. The excuse that he is done pretending is too slight to make the change fully believable. This hampers the episode somewhat.
Through the thing that bothers me the most is they never followed up on the skinwalker packs as a source of concern. The episode puts enough stress on the issue that feels like it should have come back and to date it hasn't.
