Paradise Island review
16 April 2020
The only white woman on an idyllic South Seas island finds herself pursued by two men while her fiancé battles with his addiction to the booze. Lively low-budget adventure with a womanising sailor who repeatedly sings of having a girl in every port as its hero. Stars Kenneth Harlan and Marcelina Day, two big names from the silent era, were both finding it tough in cinema's new era, and one can understand why judging from their performances here. It's left to Tom Santschi to deliver something of interest as the sleazy bar owner who plans to have his way with Day whether she likes it or not. Watchable and kind of fun, but very dated.
