Any sequel following an unexpected smash is bound to fail. So this indeed failed.
Remove however expectation and forget, if possible, the cultural and cinematic effect of "Blair Witch Project", and you have a pretty good genre film. Not a classic, but a good well made shocker with a cast that does it's job. No Oscars natch, but solid throughout.
Should have been simply called "Book of Shadows" and left off the BWII.
