Review of Trapped

Trapped (1949)
7/10
Lloyd Bridges as a prisoner getting a short break out of prison
2 July 2020
This is not a very nice thriller, but it is very well made. It's an early Richard Fleischer feature and impressing as such, especially in the final scenes of the chase. Lloyd Bridges has an interesting part, although he gets the same treatment as all the others, while you must feel sorry for Barbara Payton, who actually did nothing wrong. John Hoyt makes a difficult and very debatable part, and although he does it well you can't quite like his character but almost feel compelled to side with the others. It's a semi-documentary about the counterfeit money business in LA, and as such it can't turn out as anything else than a dark chronicle of facts where most things go wrong for most people, with only one exception: the TD.
