Review of Clear

The Walking Dead: Clear (2013)
Season 3, Episode 12
10/10
Memorable episode that has some spectacular writing and character development

The episode is pretty simple as it's Rick, Carl and Michoone out scavenging for weapons and ammunition in his old town. There's a much needed reunion and it's between Rick and Morgan and the performances the two share in those scenes are one of the best, much thanks to the superb dialogue. Lennie James gives an incredible and believable performance as a man who have lost his way and gone crazy because of the loss of both his family members. The character interactions between Rick, Carl and Michoone all feel natural and a lot of development between them in this episode and it shows in later seasons as relationships is being made here. The dialogue is perfect, every single line works. Scott Gimple did a great job with writing this. I have a lot of problems with his writing in future seasons and the decisions he did as a showrunner but be had his great moments and this is one of them.

This is one of my personal standalone episodes of The Walking Dead and one of the most memorable ones. It's a filler, yes. But it's something entirely different from a regular filler and what they executed was unique and long lasting for the characters and viewers. There's some great story telling, character development and moments. Tricia Brock directed this episode and did a fine job, a magnificent job at creating a remarkable character driven episode that is needed for the bigger picture.
