Cavalcade (1933)
6/10
While following the family does have some interest, it does not cause the film to significantly stick out.

This is basically the 1930s equivalent to 'Downton Abbey' condensed to a little under two hours. This is certainly epic film making for its time but its hard to get too emotionally involved when the plotting is a mile wide and an inch deep.
