What a fantastic ensemble piece this is. The Alienist is a superb and gripping television show and I feel so lucky to live in a time when such artistry is so freely provided.
It is cleverly written, in my view and as I do not read (all due deference to those that have read the books) I am absolutely enthralled by the characters, the plot and the amazing green screens that no doubt made this period piece of television greatness! Dakota Fanning is mindbogglingly good, her clipped tone is excellent, and she more than handles the skilful Daniel Brühl and soulful Luke Evans. I was engrossed in this extremely moody underbelly whilst seeing the progressiveness of the times. Bravo to the casting director(s). Not a performance I did not marvel at.
Wonderful. I cannot wait to be able to sit down and enjoy the next instalment, and may there be many more!
