Renoir (2012)
Renoir, father and son.

The story presented here takes place from about 1915 to 1919. It starts when a new model is recommended to painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir, she is teenager Andrée Heuschling. Far from being the submissive type she has lots of spunk which served her well in her eventual career.

Two of the Renoir sons are off to war, the 21-yr-old, Jean Renoir, returns home badly wounded and spends some time recuperating. During that time he and Andree gradually fall for each other.

So this is really two important Renoir stories, the last few years of the old man, the painter, suffering greatly with Rheumatoid Arthritis, needing the help of 6 or 8 sturdy women to care for his home, cook for him, bathe him, and even carry him in his chair to locations for him to paint. He was just barely able to keep painting and died in 1919.

The second story of the younger one, Jean, who would become a world-renowned filmmaker, and who would marry his dad's model who became his early star in movies.

This movie is very well made and beautiful to look at, fitting for the painter and filmmaker. I was able to watch it on Amazon streaming movies.
