I hate this movie! You would think that a movie with Richard Jaeckel, William Devane, and Keenan Wynn would be great but instead all three of them give lackluster performances. Originally the alien in this movie was supposed to be a zombie but they changed it at the last second. Now, usually this wouldn't be a problem but it raises some questions, like: why does the alien sometime decapitate people and sometimes shoot them with lasers? Why do people say someone was decapitated when we were clearly shown they weren't?
And also because of this, the laser and explosion effects are worse than what I could do in photo-shop! 90% of this movie is just people walking around and doing nothing while occasionally the alien shows up and kills somebody. Also, I know this movie is called The Dark, but why does every scene with the alien look like it's lit the streetlights? Richard Jaekel, William Devane, and Keenan Wynn did not deserve this.
