Phantom Ship (1935)
5/10
Somewhat a banal interpretation of a real mystery
11 October 2020
One by one the crew members and passengers of the 'Mary Celeste' disappear and is found as an empty ship.

An interpretation of what happened during the real story of the 1872 incident and the result is a lot more banal than the mystery itself. Perfectly decent cheap entertainment. A film more renowned for being one of the first Hammer films and one that starred Bela Lugosi. Some exterior shots actually filmed on a ship help raise the film from being studio bound. Almost 20 minutes of the film are now missing, but does help tighten the plot.
