I have watched Today since the beginning of time, when dave garroway introduced a new format in TV, news and entertainment combined in a neat little package. That package has grown into a Costco truck, full of everything. Each time they appoint a new producer, changes are coming. I like, at least for the first hour a news format. that's what perople want when they get up and have their coffee while getting ready for work or school. I enjoyed a dedicated news person, however it's OK to have several voices communicate what happened overnight and what to be aware of that day.
The first thing I would do is change all the personnel. Hoda Kotb is not suited to a news format at all. her only talent is remembering lyrics from every song ever written. She also has a terrible habit of dropping her "G's' from every word ending in one. Just listen to her say "good mornin'" to everyone, followed by the person's correct "good morninG". This is not a rural morning farm show. The anx]chors should be able to speak english. Savannah is n't half bad. Sometimes her voice is a little anooying, but she does a fine interview, evewn though there is some bias there. I think over the last four years that has been somewhat necessary as we have politicians that don't deserve the time of day. Craig is, in my opinion another version of Bryant Gumble. Too relaxed, too flip, and the voice is a problem. he needs to see a throat specialist ala Dr. Fauci. It might improve his delivery. Sorry about the loss of your brother, by the way. that is a tough one. I used to love Al Roker, his humor was unparalleled, but I think he has seem better days. I think he should retire and try to get his full health back. He can continue writing books and do an occasional science special. In these times, I don't think there is enough science covered on commercial TV. Dylan is OK, pert and pretty and does an adequate job in describing the weather, without unnecessary humor. She seems to be a deer in the headlights at times. She can stay, but I think they need to have other meteorologists just for a change of pace.
I would like to see stronger journalists on air. Kriten Welker and Peter Alexander and Willie Geist are all excellent. Sheinelle Jones is a good fillin. Some of the reporteres deserve a shot, such as Kate Snow, Jose Diaz balart, Hallie Jackson, Miguel Almaguer, Kasie Hunt, Stephanie Gosk, and others. They have the talent, the serious journalists, they should better utilize them.
