Different,bland and boring
4 January 2021
Beowulf is a centuries old tale and it has always remained a fantasy until this movie came along. Beowulf & Grendal not only makes Grendal some overly hairy wildman(and bearded boy) but a sympathetic and misunderstood 'villain' too. Beowulf is played by Gerard Butler,a decent choice, till he starts talking with that artificial Irishesque accent. The picture is something of an Icelandic production which is very visible from its minimalist, bland style.

At this point I've lost all hope of ever watching a decent, entertaining adaptation of Beowulf;all of them being either filled with cartoonish action and special effects or like this one. Which has all the entertainment of sitting alone and watching the barren tundra.
