Review of The Hustler

The Hustler (2021)
7/10

Designed for fans of murder mysteries who love the final scene when the detective gathers all the suspects and fingers the murderer, "The Hustler" assembles five contestants in a paneled study and gives hints to the identity of the "hustler"---the unknown person playing against the rest, and the only person who knows all the answers to the trivia questions they answer to accumulate a bank of money.

Craig Ferguson hosts, and his witticisms keep things light as the starting five strive to make it to the final three, who must then name the player they think is the hustler.

This is a relatively slow game. It plays out over an hour that features banter, accusations, clues and trivia. I found one of the first two episodes to be very entertaining because the players were very good, i.e. Very tricky. But this game is not for everyone. If you enjoyed "The Mole" or the lesser known "Killer Camp", you might enjoy this more mannerly competition.
