Strang never hacked and slashed anyone, in fact it was he who was assassinated. I know, my latest novel led me to do a LOT of research into the King of Beaver Island. The closest this thing comes to true events is that there was a man who called himself king and that is it. Very disappointed that the purported claim of based on true events was an outright lie.
It starts out with people being in a dirty, scummy motel when in fact Beaver Island is a resort area with high end hotels. Being a horror writer from Michigan, these based on true events are based on pure fiction.
To top it all off, it isn't even a good movie. Not worth watching.
