Walker: Don't Fence Me In (2021)

Warning: Spoilers
The last two episodes have been so much better. Thank you to whoever fixed the sound (incidentally, the music this week was excellent, too).

One of my favourite things at this early stage is that none of the characters feel superfluous; almost every single one has a distinct plotline and back story that I'm waiting (and eager) to learn more about.

There's a lot going on story-wise already, so I wasn't sure that they were going to touch on Cordell's time undercover, but it looks like that's about to come back to bite him. Personally, I hoped the show would go in that direction so I'm excited to see where it goes. Undercover work can be a morally grey area, so it will be interesting to see how Walker's 'strict moral code' stands up to scrutiny. I'm really looking forward to watching this play out.

The pacing of the episodes so far has been great, but I hope they're careful to let the many plotlines develop and conclude naturally - as the story grows, there's the potential for episodes to get crowded.

Notable mentions:

Kale Culley was magnificent in the last episode, and kept it up in this one. Mollie Hagan's Abi is rapidly becoming one of my favourite characters. Lindsey Morgan is faultless; she has charisma in spades, and is believably tough and focused as Micki. Huge relief to see them drop the bumbling act with Cordell, as that was becoming tiresome.
