This episode marks the beginning of perhaps the greatest arc in all of Gintama, and it couldn't have started in a better way. The amazing pacing, perfect balance of comedy and seriousness, the gradual buildup of tension, all of which culminates in an explosive cliffhanger which completely subverted what I thought this arc was going to be in the best way possible.
Overall a brilliant episode which does an amazing job of setting up the arc to come.
