Beat 'em up cheapie
20 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
SHOOTFIGHTER is a typical beat 'em up of the mid 1990s, notable for looking and feeling extraordinary cheap throughout and for casting no-name stars as the leads. It's a pity as the supporting cast is much more interesting, from KARATE KID's Martin Kove as another baddie to the wonderful Bolo Yeung getting to play a good guy for a change. Here, he's the mentor to the main characters, and he even gets a couple of fights to himself too. The story is nothing special, just the usual arena fights and fallings out, but at least it's visceral and violent with some organ-ripping mayhem added to the mix.
