A very embarrassing and lasting anime about witchcraft. It goes on and on and on. Reminds me of different fairy-tales at certain points and feels like a weird remake. Disappointment at its worst. "Spirited Away" was excellent. Who knew that this one would have turned out to be a complete turkey (at least on my scale): unpleasant characters, witchcraft everywhere, hectic behaviour of almost everybody present, European clothing and unimpressive steampunk atmosphere which adds nothing good, and some unexplained war raging on...
After first 30 minutes it was hard to watch this repetitive extravaganza with mindless plot. Suppose the authors themselves were lost in their ideas and did not know what they were filming.
An anti-war film? Hardly. "Barefoot Gen" is and deserves to be on the top list instead. If you want to make an anti-war film, make the message right and clear.
