Review of Freud

Freud (2020)

If this series had not been called Freud, it would probably have been much better received.

The show itself is not particularly bad or particularly good, but it has some good moments as well as some interesting characters.

The best part of the series are two police officers, Inspector Kiss and his friend Franz Poschacher. They are also the most interesting characters, and the casting for their roles is great. Georg Friedrich in the role of Alfred Kiss is excellent, and he is also the most interesting character.

Robert Finster is not bad in the role of Freud, it is a pity that this is actually pure fiction and has nothing to do with the real Freud, except for the name. The other characters are mostly hilarious, and the pathetic attempts to shock the viewer with nudity and blood are ridiculous.

Yes, this is pure fantasy that sometimes looks like a parody and it would have been a lot better if they hadn't gone in that direction. The cinematography is good, the costume design is excellent. It can be seen that a lot of effort has been invested in costume design, so the series itself seems a bit better.

But still, that's not enough, it could have been a lot better all together, but if you don't expect historical accuracy, you could have fun here and there.

The casting is good, the actors are generally not bad, it's just a pity that they unnecessarily went into the fantasy genre. A series that has its good and bad moments, and could have been a lot better without some unnecessary parts.

In short, pure fantasy with some fun parts and great costume design.
