The Troop (2009–2013)

Creative and Fun Silliness (Not Hyper-Perky)
16 November 2021
One of the most creative children's sitcom adventure programs I've ever seen! No superheroes, just an odd group of kids with little in common except friendship and caring for creatures & nature.

Completely without the typical super-happy, hyper-perky schtick with forced laughs; The Troop didn't pretend to offer quick solutions or fast fixes for anything. The kids explored and tried different options until something worked. The comedy was fun and silly, not fake or at someone's expense. Very different from the children's network shows on many networks.

Of course, creatures and situations were often silly. But the actors themselves were having a good time, and they were good sports about being swallowed or turned into wood, or trying to save their friends from danger or the fear of a mysterious forest.

Gage, the girl, was especially delightful to watch. However, she wasn't a scene stealer.

It has been many years since I saw rerun episodes of The Troop, but I would love to see it again. It was that fun. (11/16/21)
