I find myself agreeing with both haters and lovers of this show. Episode Five on a rewatch, I was able to see how brilliantly funny it was. This episode was PERFECT but it was perfect in a way that its like making the perfect hamburger when you have spent the entire 2.5 seasons at a great steakhouse. We get it, these characters, the satire, we really hate FOX News etc. I think that it is time to bring some radical beliefs into this show, the thought these characters can actually win.

Everything below is fanfiction ideas that you are free to skip, are more for my personal enjoyment and hoping to have the HBO writers check them out:

Here is what I want to see from Greg, I want him to get to stand up to people, act like a man, lose all hesitance or fear in his voice and eventually leave the show. I don't think I want to see his character with a kernel of innocence lose it all. The writers probably never intended Greg to be a fan favorite character but they have to face it nobody wants to see Greg fall into utter evil and destroy his soul. This show needs to also focus down to 4 major characters tops.

I would resolve his story like this, he goes to his grandfather at trial and says in a determined unwavering voice "I am a serious man" and before its too late, Greg pleads to him that he knows that his family is rotten and deserves nothing BUT please use his legal brilliant mind to save Tom from prison as a settlement and allow Tom to pin all of the negligent murders of the Cruise line on various people. Explain that Greg only sued Greenpeace for showing his grandpa Greg was serious. Please give Greg a small inheritance too so he can prove to the world he is a decent person living his own life. This standing up for what is right impresses his grandfather and he agrees.

Later, give Greg a scene where he deus ex machinas saving the family in a flash of brilliance. This impresses Logan so much that he wakes out of his stupor and does Greg's entire suggestion to his families outrage, giving certain roles and jobs to every family member and says, "son what do you want" Greg without pause says "I want to be the manager of your Midwest theme park division after all, nothing more, nothing less". And thus ends the story of Greg. Afterward there is a farewell scene where Greg and Tom hug and Tom kisses Greg deeply on the lips with tears in his eyes. Tom says thank you. Greg punches Tom and says you'll always be my best friend but never see me again. THE END

I would finish Toms story as he gets rescued from the law, by showing Tom having a speech about his absolution of his crimes, the resolve they have to fight for victims rights. There is someone big breasted and beautiful in the audience, falling in love with Tom's eloquence. Tom finishes his speech and walks off and she eventually encounters him. She seduces Tom by telling him what he has always wanted to hear from Shiv "I love you, I want you" they then make sweet love and Tom is finally one day fully happy and feeling masculine and like a man for the first time in many years. That is a win for him although he will have massive hell to pay later naturally.

I want to see Kendall on the phone getting ready to sell the theme park Greg is about to take over to screw Greg like he promised and then Tom overhearing the call, punches Kendall straight in the face. Saying, do whatever you want to all of us, leave Greg out of it. I realized after all of this, I am ready mentally to go to prison, I will KILL YOU, if you sell Greg's theme park or go after him. I am not like the others I come from Minnesota a land of killers. Kendall backs off and goes away to run his new Me Too charity for the Democratic Party.

The season ends with everyone basically having a decent position and role to play, loss of a character, next season is the folly of trying to make Connor Roy president...will he win? Is America that dumb? And a new easier to follow narrative that can expand the show to many more seasons.

I am just throwing my ideas of fanfiction out there if anyone from the writers room gives a crap they have full permission to use these as inspiration. I think what people want is a breather from constant futility and please consider it.
