Warning: Spoilers
I am so sorry to see this series go. It has been a personal beacon of light and hope in these dark times.

This series stands so far above most entertainment that it stands in a category bt itself..

The subject areas are serious and relevant- including intense school bullying, rescue of a fallen soldier in Afghanistan, a father in jail, rape and its aftermath, a mother near death in a maternity ward, Hurricane Katrina, and witness protection. Not one mention of extra marshmellows or holiday fairs. Not your typical Hallmark subject matter.

Layered across these compelling explorations of the personal impact of these important societal issues are the evolving relationships of the four main characters, who have created a modern (chosen) family.

It is hard here to do the writing and character development justice. In art such as this there is an ephemeral quality that is alchemical- combining the story line, the actors, the acting, the music, the sets. Suffice it to say that in this particular episode, the conversations between the Oliver character and the Shane character centering on Oliver's need for emotional healing from his experience of abandonment from successive women he loved (on the eve of their wedding), are among the most beautiful and true of any show I have witnessed.

This is an amazing achievement and I hope against hope (as this series stands for) that this is NOT the end of this magical artistic collaboration.

If it is - thank you. I am both awed and appreciative.
