Review of Wolf Like Me

Wolf Like Me (2022– )
Season one very engaging but ends where it starts to get really interesting. Season two is boring.

Warning: Spoilers
This six-episode series was shot within a short time in the middle of 2021 in Australia. Interestingly Australian actress Isla Fisher plays an American living in Australia. She has a big secret, she must isolate herself one night each month during full moon.

Quite by accident (car crash) she meets a single American dad (Josh Gad) living in Australia with his 11-yr-old daughter. They seem to have a healthy attraction for each other but this secret of hers keeps getting in the way. There is a climax of sorts when the three of them go sightseeing one day and get stranded in the desert overnight during a full moon. A couple of thugs don't realize what they are getting into.

We watched the six episodes in one 2 1/2 hour sitting. Each episode is 20-something minutes long. It definitely sets up for a sequel, actually it begs for a sequel, to see how the three of them sort out all the issues and move forward.

The "chemistry" between the main actors is good and the stories are interesting. Not great just interesting. Josh Gad sings a little. At home on Peacock streaming.

Edit March 2022: Interestingly I recently received an offer of a gift card in exchange for answering an on-line survey about this series and some ideas for the stories in the second season which I suppose is in production now. So I did, one of my suggestions is she have twins and one is like mom and the other like dad, sort of like the twins on "Superman and Lois." But it looks like they rejected my idea. Of note, I never received my gift card!!)

Edit October 2023: My wife and I started watching season two, we were not very impressed, the episodes drag. She quit so I jumped to the final episode and it takes a long time to get to the delivery of the baby, which only seems to set it up for a third season, which I will NOT watch. The show lost all of the interest it generated in season one and has become one that isn't interesting enough to watch.
