Extremely difficult to improve an Oscar winning classic and Spielberg tries but doesn't succeed However that said it is still an enjoyable film and the music is beyond compare The stars in the 1961 film outshine one's from today but perhaps the younger generation that are viewing the film for the first time will disagree Fairly good rendition of West Side NY in 1957 however even the great Spielberg has an Old Look GM bus in Gray and white New Jersey Public Service livery driving by in the background which is a no no in NY. All the additional elaborate costly scenes still don't improve the film. One thing that is done well is the elaborating of Tony and Maria's romance which helps See it and enjoy it!
