Josie and the Pussycats (1970–1972)
6/10
Just finished rewatching the whole 16 episode run
28 January 2022
I watched this first time around as a young kid, but hadn't seen it since. It debuted the year after Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, and was likewise a Hanna-Barbera production. It followed that 'teen mystery solvers' premise that HB loved so much; but unlike Scooby-Doo, was more 'Bond-villain seeking world domination', than 'Old man Jenkins scaring people away so he can look for buried treasure'. Parts of it are as I remembered, parts don't hold up quite so well - but I still love it. Watching it again is like being right back there. Shame it only got one season (although it did get a follow-up show, Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space, which I'll be revisiting next).

The Nemo's a No No Affair ~ 6/10; A Greenthumb Is Not a Goldfinger ~ 6/10; The Secret Six Secret ~ 5/10; Swap Plot Flop ~ 5/10; Midas Mix-Up ~ 6/10; X Marks the Spot ~ 7/10; Chili Today and Hot Tamale ~ 6/10; Never Mind a Master Mind ~ 7/10; Plateau of the Apes Plot ~ 6/10; Strangemoon Over Miami ~ 6/10; All Wong in Hong Kong ~ 6/10; Melody Memory Mix-Up ~ 7/10; The Great Pussycat Chase ~ 5/10; Spy School Spoof ~ 6/10; Jumpin' Jupiter Affair ~ 6/10; Don't Count on a Countess ~ 7/10

Great voice work by regular cast, Janet Waldo (Josie), Barbara Pariot (Valerie), Jackie Joseph (Melody), Jerry Dexter (Alan), Casey Casem (Alexander), Sherry Albioni (Alexandra), and Don Messick (Sebastian, their cat). The songs are catchy, too (a young Cheryl Ladd provides one of the singing voices).

Overall, 6/10.
