Andersen was not known for his storytelling and unfortunately Jungfrau am Abhrund is no exception. The mondo theme of a 15 year old who sees a traumatic event (lesbian encounter in a small club - no I'm not joking, it is really the traumatic event) which leads to a mental breakdown and Her having violent sexual hallucinations. I told you the storyline is thin. In Anderson's defence, he did attempt to artistically connect the various hallucinations and even to depict a degree of progression. Examples are the use of hands, as well as the use of spaces. The
Modell D'oo soundtrack (yes the same duo he featured on Vampirism Sexos) and crude editing worked well. These are the only aspect which makes the film worth a review. For the rest it's pretty much just sex and gore set pieces filmed on 16mm black and white. Something which worked a lot better in eg Man Bites Dog (but then again, there was also a story to it and very clever dialogue).
