This is a very odd version of Washington Irving's classic tale of the ghost of the Headless Horseman. Those familiar only with the Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp may be intrigued by the idea of Jeff Goldblum as Ichobod Crane, but unfortunately, he does not play the role as if he is living in this time period, far too modern in an early 80's sense, and thus unfortunately having a major effect of the impact of the characterization.

The other issue is that this is played towards a child audience, and thus adult audiences will find it extremely tedious to get into. Meg Foster isn't really appealing as the romantic heroine, and Dick Butkus is just wretched. There's only a subtle hint of the horrors of the horseman, showing that little thought that was put into this. It doesn't even feel like this was set in the fall which the classic story makes clear. Attempts at humor come off very juvenile with the ensemble directed to play to the third balcony filled with first graders.
